Still Time To Be Crafty

Living with my dad I found I really missed the little craft projects I was always
working on at home.   Off to JoAnne's for velvet fabric and to Walmart for the
little pumpkins.  The two larger ones are from the dollar tree.

I just cut a hole in the top of each pumpkin and scraped out some of the
Styrofoam.  The fabric was tucked into the pumpkins and finished off
with spray painted stems.  I would have loved to have real pumpkin stems
but there are no pumpkin patches anywhere near here.

They were soooo easy to make with no sewing or hot glue required.

I am rather envious because Steve is home in Richmond enjoying the Fall
weather and leaves turning.  There is not a sign of Fall here in central Florida!
It is still 90+ degrees and humid as can be.  I haven't seen much in the way
of Fall decorating either.  I went to a large craft show Saturday and can you
believe there was not a single velvet pumpkin?

I hope to see you at this weeks Open House party.

Take care and have a great week.

Hugs,
Sherry

We just returned from a wedding in Sarasota and it was so dang hot! I was happy to get home to Ohio where there's a nip in the air. Your pumpkins are fabulous. Velvet is always perfect! Hope all is well with your dad.

i've been seeing a lot of the velvet pumpkins around but some of the sites that sell them are waayy out of my price range! i love how you came up with such a budget friendly idea and they look beautiful...i might have to try my hand at making some for myself!

Very pretty, Sherry! My hubby is in Florida right now; supposed to be 86 degrees today where he is. We just started getting the cooler weather here this past week and it is wonderful! I've been taking walks enjoying it.

Oh I'm so impressed with this craft! I've admired those pricey velvet pumpkins that I've been seeing around blogland, but this is the first project I've seen where someone made them without sewing. I love them! You're so crafty. Sorry it's so warm there. It will catch up to you I'm sure. We are just now feeling much cooler temps (that require a jacket). Don't know how long it will last though.

Absolutely adorableSherry!
I had to travel to New York for fall weather, it is still in the 80's here, but it was worth it for all the fun inspiration found there!

The burgundy pumpkins are gorgeous. I love that colour! For some reasons temperatures don't want to go down here either, even if it's a lot cooler than Florida (I live in Brittany)... And so humidity level is unbearable, so much that I actually wish for some cold!

Hope you are doing well. I know it must be difficult to see your father struggling. Crafts do help lift the spirit! Hang in there.

How pretty and plush! I used to live in Orlando and thought it was funny how people tried to wear fall clothes in that heat!

I hope you are doing O with your Dad. I KNOW how hard this is. I just LOVE this craft. I have been wanting some of the velvet pumpkins I keep seeing all over blogland but don't sew. This is SO clever. Did you just stuff the stems down in there too? XO, Pinky
